"The Zozo Sisters" (Zozo veut dire Oiseau en cajun) est l'association de Linda Ronstadt dont ce sera le 31ème album, et Ann Savoy.

ADIEU FALSE HEART (dans CROSSROADS ?) B000060OL9.01.LZZZZZZZ

1. Opening

2. Adieu False Heart
(Traditional)

Adieu false heart, since we must part
May the joy of the world go with you
I've loved you long with a faithful heart
But I never anymore will I believe you

I've seen the time I'd have married you
And been your constant lover
But now I'll freely give you up
for one whose heart's more truer.

My mind is like the constant sun
From the east to the west it ranges
Yours is like unto the moon
It's every month a-changing

When I lay down to take my rest
No scornful morn to wake me
I'll go straight ways unto my grave
Just as fast as time can take me

3. I Can't Get Over You
(Julie Miller) First recorded by Buddy Miller on MIDNIGHT AND LONESOME, 2002.

I’ve been tryin’ for a long, long time
But no matter what I do
When I turn to leave, my heart stays behind
‘Cause I can’t get over you

I keep movin’ on, runnin’ hard and fast
But everywhere that I run to
I’m just standin’ still, livin’ in the past
‘Cause I can’t get over you

If memories were like the leave that fall
The wind would have carried them from my mind
The seasons pass, but they never change
A broken heart can’t keep time

If memories were like leave that fall
The wind would have carried them from my mind
The seasons pass, but they never change
A broken heart can’t keep time

While I watched as colors faded in the sun
The color of my love stays true
I’ve been letting go now, but I’m not holdin’ on
I just can’t get over you
I just can’t get over you

4. Marie Mouri (Maris Has Died)
Written by a Creole slave named Pierre before the Civil War. It was adapted for music by the fiddler David Greeley from the band Steve Riley and The Mamou Playboys.

ENGLISH LYRICS
Dear little bird
What are you doing?
You’re jumping
You’re singing
Don’t you know
Marie is no more?
Marie has died,
Marie has died

5. King Of Bohemia
(Richard Thompson, 1994, Album: MIRROR BLUE)

Let me rock you in my arms
I'll hold you safe and small
A refugee from the Seraphim
In your rich girl rags and all
Did your dreams die young
Were they too hard won
Did you reach too high and fall
And there is no rest
For the ones God blessed
And he blessed you best of all
Your eyes seem from a different face
They've seen that much that soon
Your cheek too cold, too pale to shine
Like an old and waning moon
And there is no peace
No true release
No secret place to crawl
And there is no rest
For the ones God blessed
And he blessed you best of all
If tears unshed could heal your heat
If words unsaid could sway
Then watch you melt into the night
with Adieu, and rue the day
Did your dreams die young
Were they too hard won
Did you reach too high and fall
And there is no rest
For the ones God blessed
And he blessed you best of all

6. Tournes, Tournes Bébé Créole

7. Go Away from My Window
(Traditional, John Jacob Niles)

Go away from my window
Go away from my door
Go away way from my bedside
And bother me no more
And bother me no more

I’ll go tell all of my brothers
I’ll go tell my shipmates too
The reason that my heart is broke
Is all because of you
Is all because of you

I’ll give you back your presents
You give me back my ring
And I won’t forget my own true love
As long as song birds sing
As long as song birds sing

Go away from my window
Go away from my door
Go away way from my bedside
And bother me no more
And bother me no more

I’ll tell all of my brothers
I’ll tell my shipmates too
The reason that my heart is broke
Is all because of you
Is all because of you

8. Burns Supper
(Richard Thompson, 1996, Album YOU? ME? US?)

Oh you speak the words locked in my breast
But it's late for me, let an old man rest
One more black and tan on the barricade
To keep me safe from loving
When I close my eyes, close my eyes
To the cold flame of the Northern Lights
When I close my eyes, close my eyes
And I see you still in the shuttered night

What a new-found friend is honesty
To see ourselves as others see
To see the shy boy inside the man
Is that all I am? Just starved of loving

When I close my eyes, I close my eyes
To the cold flame of the Northern Lights
When I close my eyes, close my eyes
And I see you still in the shuttered night

9. One I Love Is Gone
(Bill Monroe)

I don’t know I don’t know where I’ll go or what I’ll do
It makes no difference what I’ll do without you
Oh I love you my darling but I’ll try and let you be
Goodbye, it’s the last you’ll hear of me

Well I found a bluebird high on a mountain side
And the bluebird would sing it’s little song
So I’ll sigh, I’ll cry, I’ll even want to die
For the one I love is gone

10. Interlude

11. Rattle My Cage
(Chas Justus / Ryan Lake / Joel Savoy / Linzay Young) (First recorded by the band RED STICK RAMBLERS, album BRING IT ON DOWN, 2003)
Joel is the son of Ann & Marc Savoy

12. Parlez-Moi d'Amour
(First sung by french female singer Lucienne Boyer in 1930, Lyrics & Music written by Jean Lenoir)

CHORUS:
Parlez-moi d'amour,
Redites-moi des choses tendres.
Votre beau discours,

13. Too Old to Die Young
(Moe Bandy)

If life is like a candle bright death must be the wind
You can close your window tight and it still comes flowing in
So I will climb the highest hill and watch the rising sun
And I pray that I don’t feel the chill till I’m too old to die young

CHORUS
Let me watch my children grow to see what they become
Oh Lord don’t let that cold wind blow till I’m too old to die young

Now I have had some dear sweet friends I thought would never die
Now the only thing that’s left of them is the teardrops in my eyes
If I could have one wish today and know it would be done
Well I would say everyone could stay till they’re too old to die young

REPEAT CHORUS TWICE

14. Interlude

15. Walk Away Renee
(Written by Bob Calilli, Michael Brown, Tony Sansone)
First Performed by THE LEFT BANKE in 1966, N°5 Top Hit.

And when I see the sign that points one way
The lot we used to pass by every day

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame

From deep inside the tears that I'm forced to cry
From deep inside the pain that I chose to hide

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
Now as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me it cries

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
Now as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me it cries

Your name and mine inside a heart upon a wall
Still finds a way to haunt me, though they're so small

Just walk away Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame

Fc_1

Hi, this is my first impression of the cd!!
First of all, excuse my english, I'm from Spain.

All the songs are soft and delicate.
Harmonies in the record are like made in heaven and the traditional arrangements got variety and are lovely made.
I honestly believe Linda has performed his best harmonies ever in this record and both singers, Linda and Ann paste perfectly well their voices.
Linda keeps her voice always at the service of the song, she seems to understand the melodies and harmonies needs of each song.
You don't find Linda the belter here, but her voice sounds great when she sings alone too.

I usually listen every new cd of Linda and soon I have my favourite songs and the songs I know I'll listen less in the future.I find very difficult in this record to choose a single song instead of another.
All of them have something good inside.

Adieu false heart- Ann (100%) Linda (100%) The song marks the pattern of the cd, delicate vocal harmonies and carefully chosen arrangements. Beautiful song and one of my favourites.

I can't get over you- Linda lead vocal (100%) Ann harmonies (25%) Linda sings prominently in this one. Good vocals.

Marie Mouri- Linda (100%) Ann (100%) (in french) Melancholic song. Great vocal harmonies. It sounds very traditional and with a lot of instruments.

King of Bohemia- Linda (100%) Ann slight harmonies (10%) Linda sings almost alone here. I love the way she sings the "all" in "he blessed you best of aa..ll" in the low register.

Tournes, Tournes Bébé Créole- Linda (100%) Ann (100%) (in french) The most upbeat song of the album. Like a mix of song traditional of a cajun party and a lullaby. Very funny.

Go Away from My Window- Linda (100%) Ann (60%) Linda uses the falsetto here subtetly, but flows effortlessly to the usual register. It sounds a bit forced to me but Ann have a great second voice.

Burn's Super-Ann (100%) Linda (65%) Soft song and Linda uses a very effective angel voice to surround her. The less favourite to me.

One I Love Is Gone-Linda (100%) Ann (100%) The phrasing in this one is very similar to Maria Muldaur's with losen vocals and a good change of pace.

Rattle My Cage-Linda (100%) Ann (30%) Very good vocal of Linda. Like a better version of her vocals of her first albums with a country twang.

Parlez-Moi d'Amour- Ann (100%) Linda (75%) (in french) Very good and delicate song. It sounds like an old metro musical performed by two singers looking and praying for love. Very charming.

Too Old to Die Young- Ann (80%) Linda (80%) one verse in solitaire each one. Like in all the songs very palatable guitars and varied cajun instruments. Good harmonies.

Walk away Renee- Linda (80%) Ann (80%) one verse in solitaire each one. A moving song. The melody makes you feel dizzy, till you can't forget it.

Overall Wadieu false heart has taken the good qualities of "trio" or "trio 2". But this time Linda is more prominently in the new record.

The french touch of the songs are really charming and the Linda pronuntiation seems very good.
Ann's voice is similar to Linda's, anyway Linda keeps her voice remarkably clear when they want and fusing them when they want to harmonize.

Ann is a great ARTIST.

The album is more ambicious that I could imagine beforehand.

In its own traditional way I hope it will be very very well appreciated and enjoyed by the critics and fans.
